Dr Sembi has been carrying out medico legal work since 1996 during which time he has produced in the region of a thousand reports. He has also regularly taken medico legal and court skills training as well as fulfilling his professional society's requirements for Continuing Professional Development.

He accepts in the order of 100 instructions annually in the areas of neuropsychological (eg head injury) and psychological (eg PTSD) injury. These comprise approximately 15% joint instructions, 60% Claimant and 25% Defendant.

His waiting list is in the region of 8-12 weeks and he is usually able to provide a completed report in about 4-6 weeks from completion of his assessment. However Dr Sembi will always endeavour to provide a faster service if he can.

Where possible routine effort testing forms a standard part of all medico legal neuropsychological assessments and he carries out sufficient assessments to maximise the reliability and validity of findings.  He uses tests that are of proven reliability and validity and are considered gold standards in the assessment of brain functioning. All of his assessments are individually tailored to the needs of the referral and the question being asked.

On occasions the nature of an assessment also necessitates a more flexible or non standard approach, for example, in the neuropsychological assessment of patients in Punjabi or via the use of interpreters. In such cases empirically validated norms are not available however the approach he applies ensures that the most valid assessment possible is carried out and detailed notes are included as a part of his report in order to assist the Court in making its decision. 

His reports are therefore detailed and thorough and reflect his commitment to excellence. As far as possible he reports his conclusions in lay terms and uses non-technical language to promote understanding and assist the Court in making its decision.

His reports have been highly regarded by both claimant and defendant solicitors and barristers and he has regularly received excellent feedback from the legal profession.

Dr Sembi accepts referrals on the understanding that settlement of fees is within 30 days of receipt of his report unless other arrangements are agreed prior to acceptance of referrals.
